Tutorial provision has become increasingly significant in enabling learners’ progress, achievement and development, and has featured highly in a number of Ofsted inspections. There are many aspects to consider, each with their own unique challenges. During the morning we will consider strategies to enhance tutorial provision in relation to:

• The purpose and rationale for 1-1 Reviews
• Developing professional tutoring skills in line with National Occupational Standards
• Personal Tutor recruitment, training and development
• A model to deliver effective 1-1 Reviews
• Observing, auditing and reviewing 1-1 Reviews
• Reviewing the quality of support for individual progress and development

Throughout the session we will use practical activities and quality frameworks for you to review your 1-1 tutorial provision and plan for future improvement. There will also be time to network and share best practice.

The FETN South West Regional Meeting which take place following lunch and will include:

• Presentation: An organisational approach to improving the quality of tutorial provision
• Sharing Good Practice: Weston College’s Individual Development (I.D.) programme; an approach to individual and group skill development.
• Discussion: How to meaningfully implement sustainability
• Open Forum: An opportunity for attendees to raise topical issues for discussion
